With a specific interest in construction materials, predominantly steel, Kjaerholm created the Fritz Hansen PK55™ Table. Crafted with a combination of recognizable Kjaerholm materials, the ash veneer tabletop complements the satin-brushed stainless steel frame with an essence of lightness. Considering steel to be a natural material, with the same artistry and subtlety as other organic mediums, Poul's iconic use of steel adds depth and dimension to an otherwise simple table. An archetypal design for the contemporary home, the PK55™ can be used as both a dining table and an office desk, also available in a larger variant and perfectly paired with the Fritz Hansen PK11™ Armchair.
Poul Kjaerholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in different construction materials; especially steel which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials.
