Fritz Hansen has brought the PK23™ to life, a design which only ever existed in the form of conceptual drawings made by Poul Kjærholm in the 1950s. This reissue celebrates his legacy of minimalist design and a deep respect for industrial materials, especially steel, which he believed should be held in the same artistic regard as wood.
The lounge chair’s striking split shell and zamak bracket bridging detail are enough to make it a truly eye-catching feature in any contemporary home or office space. Aesthetically light, yet built to endure, the timeless mid-century piece comes in a range of elegant wood and frame finishes, making it a fine choice for discerning interiors.
Poul Kjaerholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in different construction materials; especially steel which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials.
