Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) was a Swedish interior decorator and furniture designer, known for revolutionising Swedish lighting design.
Born in 1919 in Gotland, Sweden, Jakobsson went on to apprentice as a carpenter before studying architecture in Gothenburg. After working as an industrial designer for General Motors, he later set up his own company after being an assistant to designers, Carl Malmsten and Werner West. For more than 30 years Jakobsson was famed for his unique light fixtures; defined by a signature style that used innovative materials and imaginative shapes to create soft, warm and subdued light.
