Upholstered in luxurious Barnum fabric, and available in a series of classically-slanted colourways, the Wingman Lounge Chair is rich with character and features a real sense of heritage. The frame is of expertly worked oiled oak, which makes for a beautiful contrast to the soft material employed elsewhere.
Hovmand-Olsen first designed the chair in 1955 at the height of the mid-century modern movement, with the enduring design still relevant some seven decades on. Well placed in any space, be it contemporary or traditional in tone, the Wingman lounge chair is produced to the exacting and widely celebrated standards of Warm Nordic.
Arne Hovmand-Olsen had the world in mind, both before and after the 1950s, when he became one of Denmark’s most renowned furniture designers. The son of a farmer and an aesthete by nature, he started as an apprentice cabinetmaker, before studying furniture design and pursuing his passion for visual composition and furniture design.
In 1944, Arne Hovmand-Olsen opened his own design practice, where he united the details of classic craftsmanship with innovative, modern design. He was a pioneer, not only in the field of architecture, but also in the field of exporting designer furniture to accommodate the large interest abroad.
