Its clean expression conceals an innovative folding mechanism, allowing the chair to transform from a fully functional seat into a compact form for storage with a simple rotation of the backrest.
Made from FSC®-certified wood and suitable for private and contract settings, Backflip combines a moulded plywood, beech-veneered backrest with solid beech legs and a smooth folding action. Choose the golden finish for a natural, understated look; bronze, cedar green or anthracite for deeper contrast; or cloud blue or cream white to introduce a softer accent. Hang it with the optional Backflip Chair Wall Bracket or fold it away whenever you need more room.
Icelandic designer Gudmundur Ludvik began his career as a carpenter before going on to study at the Icelandic Academy of Arts and the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen.
In 2010, he set up Welling/Ludvik with former fellow student Hee Welling. After establishing his own design practice, Studio Gudmundur Ludvik, he began exploring his passion for wood and traditional artisanship. His most recent work is produced by Danish design icon Carl Hansen & Son.
