Following the successful return of the iconic Timberline Floor Lamp, the Timberline Table Lamp revives Mads Caprani’s playful, swan-like silhouette from the 1970s in a refined tabletop form. Reintroduced by GUBI after a long absence from production, the design balances Scandinavian character with sculptural elegance, honouring the Danish designer’s distinctive approach to light, shape and atmosphere.
Meticulously crafted with a layered oak and birch bent-wood spine, a beautifully pleated canvas shade, and a solid cast-iron base, the lamp combines artistry with everyday functionality. Its softly diffused glow creates a warm, intimate ambience across desks, shelves and bedside settings, while the adjustable shade on a single axis allows you to shape the mood with ease. Thoughtfully engineered with replaceable components, the Timberline Table Lamp is a timeless piece that offers enduring beauty and presence beyond passing trends.
After training as an electrician, Micheli Alessio “Mads” Caprani joined renowned lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen. Whilst there he worked with the leading lights in contemporary design, including Arne Jacobsen, Poul Henningsen, and Verner Panton.
Proximity to these design visionaries awoke Caprani’s interest in design. Although initially he never intended to become a designer, his curiosity, ambition and natural talent transformed him into one of the 20th century’s great designers. In 1967, Caprani’s father acquired the Rotaflex lamp factory. By 1979, Mads had taken over from his father, changing the company’s name to Caprani Light, leading it to international acclaim. Although Caprani Lights is no more, collaboration with GUBI has exposed a new generation to his iconic designs.
