Since its 1960s debut, the Tavolo a Dischi has been hugely celebrated for its pioneering blend of structural innovation and exquisite form, adorning the interiors of many design aficionados’ homes throughout Europe. De Carli reimagined Eero Saarinen’s Tulip Table - a design he admired greatly - with layered wooden discs of varying diameters around a central core, creating a robust column with sculptural beauty.
GUBI’s partnership with De Carli’s family brings this mid-century icon back into production, ensuring it continues to shine as a timeless showstopper in today’s homes and workplaces. Seating up to six people, the Tavolo a Dischi Dining Table anchors your dining or meeting space, becoming the perfect centrepiece to share meaningful moments with others.
Not only one of the greatest masters of Italian design but also an architect and one of Italy’s leading and most respected professors, Carlo De Carli made a profound impact on design in the 20th century.
His philosophy focused on the integration of space, material and the human body and with this ideology, he effectively engaged dialogue between design, universities and craftsmanship. He has worked with established brands such as Cassina and Gubi, winning prestigious awards such as the Compas D'Oro prize for design in 1954.
