Fully adjustable and formed from sleek polycarbonate, with a ball bearing that derives from its original use within wind turbines, the Flos Bilboquet Table Lamp by Philippe Malouin is an impressively realised lighting solution that stems from the designer’s multi-faceted approach to the modern home, highlighting conventions that he is aiming to reform for his generation, and for all who follow after.
The head of the lamp is connected to the base by the magnetic ball bearing which has been tweaked to ensure a current of electricity runs directly through the lamp when all pieces are in contact, binding the two main components while offering a flexible level of adjustment for complete manoeuvrability. The cable of the lamp has also been designed to clip tightly under the base for maximum convenience, which can then be threaded through as much or as little as desired, giving you the freedom to expose or hide the cable with ease.
British-Canadian designer Philippe Malouin recently won the Wallpaper* Magazine ‘designer of the year’ award and lives and works in London, where he operates his design studio.
His diverse portfolio includes dining tables, rugs, chairs, lighting, art objects and installations for brands such as SCP and Resident.
