Carlo Scarpa designed the Cornaro to be an eye-catcher with its enhanced dimensions and bold presence. Designed to withstand everyday use, the armchair strikes a balance between longevity and comfort without compromising on style. Generous padding and broad armrests, which blend seamlessly with the backrest, combine to form an encompassing lounge chair that invites you to cosy up and relax.
Nestled in a beech base with a glossy lacquer finish, Cassina has updated the chair’s dimensions for the modern audience, while details such as the exposed black saddle leather connecting the backrest to the frame remain faithful to the original model. This timeless design embodies thoughtful functionality and fine Italian craftsmanship - a statement piece for any living room or lounge space.
A perfect match with the Cornaro Sofa.
Carlo Scarpa was an Italian architect, designer and artist inspired by the history and materials of Venetian culture, bringing these interests together into his furniture designs.
His knowledge of the quality of fabrics and the expressive impact of colour likely came from his parents’ passion for the arts and dressmaking. This led him to start designing industrial furniture in 1968, after founding Studio Simon, and later making his mark in creating high-end, iconic pieces for the likes of Cassina.
