Carlo Scarpa was an Italian architect, designer and artist inspired by the history and materials of Venetian culture, bringing these interests together into his furniture designs.
His knowledge of the quality of fabrics and the expressive impact of colour likely came from his parents’ passion for the arts and dressmaking.
