With the Slow Chair, the highly celebrated Brittany-born designers have conceived of a wonderfully shapely object, which is at once both immediately evocative and highly comfortable. Available with or without a matching ottoman, the Slow Chair Knit encourages the user to live by its name, making it the ultimate reading nook and perfect for all manner of spaces, from bedrooms to living rooms and even corporate environments.
The translucent sling cover replaces the thick cushions of traditional armchairs, leaving you with a lightweight, generously proportioned lounge chair, while a pair of loose cushions provide additional support.
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the Breton-born brothers, are the stars of European design and the most promising industrial designers to have emerged from France since Philippe Starck in the 1980s.
A combination of romanticism and functionality runs throughout both brothers’ work. Like all truly talented designers, the Bouroullecs have defined a distinctive visual style, which Jasper Morrison (one of the designers they most admire) described as “thoughtful and disciplined, with a real spirit and poetry”.
