The Vitra EA 117 Chair is noted for its intelligent use and combination of materials. The covers are attached inside the aluminium profile sections and simply stretched over the frame, transforming them from mere coverings to a load-bearing part of the structure. It adapts to fit the body snugly and delivers great comfort, even without extensive upholstery.
A medium-height backrest provides balanced support, while the tilt mechanism adjusts to the user’s weight and promotes movement while seated. The swivel base and die-cast armrests, chromed or powder-coated in a range of colourways, complete the design with impeccable style. Ideal for upscale office settings and conference venues.
American husband and wife design duo Charles and Ray Eames have had a profound influence on the visual character of American life, producing original work within the fields of architecture, furniture design, industrial design, manufacturing and the photographic arts.
The Eames’ first partnered with Vitra in 1957 to produce some of the most iconic pieces of furniture in the history of interior design. Today Vitra continues to reflect their philosophy on design and functionality, best understood through Charles’ own words: “Recognising the need is the primary condition for the design”.
