Eclectic, wild, and joyous; the nanimarquina Hayon x Nani Rectangular Rug is a collaborative piece from iconic textile brand nanimarquina and Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.
A celebration of colour and pattern for their 30th anniversary, the rug features intuitive and fluid lines created using a hand-tufting technique, whereby a manually operated pistol is used to inject pieces of wool. This blend of contemporary design and traditional techniques allows the rug to become a faithful and definitive reproduction of the original design sketches.
Spanish artist and industrial designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974.
In 1997, he began working as a researcher at Fabrica, Benetton Group’s communication and research centre in Treviso, Italy. 2004 saw the start of Hayon’s individual career and he has kept himself busy with a spectrum of eclectic projects. From toys, to modern furniture and interior design as well as artistic installations, his boldness has been to transcend the borders of the often separated worlds of art and design, comfortably bridging the two whilst embedding them with his own unique style.
