Symbolic of Marset's attention to detail and undoubted craftsmanship, the Discoco Suspension Light has become an icon in their collection. After a number of size additions to the original Discoco, Marset has marked ten years of its existence by releasing this exquisite American Oak and Black Chrome version. The wooden discs with metal undersides create a dramatic play of light and shadow, with a warm embrace of illumination persisting throughout any room it is chosen for. Due to the difficulty of producing this design in wood, a 68cm diameter version is the only size available, adding to the limited nature of its release.
His name is French and he was born in Germany, but his Spanish accent points to the Canary Islands, where he grew up. He finished his degree in interior design in Barcelona in the mid 1980's and afterward headed to Milan, discovering industrial design. He collaborated with many architects in the development of products for several companies such as De Padova, Menphis and Driade. He moved to Spain in the 1960’s and lives now in Barcelona where he is one of Marset’s veteran designers. 30 years ago Christophe Mathieu transitioned from being a professional competitive swimmer to the world of design. This makes him open to unforeseen events in life and does not discount the possibility of one day maybe leaving it all and doing something totally different.
