Reimagining an iconic 1926 design for modern living, the PH 1/1 Portable Lamp brings Poul Henningsen’s celebrated glare-free lighting into a more intimate, versatile form. A scaled-down version of the classic PH 2/1 Portable, it preserves the timeless harmony of layered opal glass and polished metal, crafted with intention to move effortlessly through everyday moments.
Cordless and approved for outdoor use, the luminaire creates a warm atmosphere wherever you place it - from bedside or bar tables to summer terraces. Mouth-blown glass shades softly diffuse the light, while dim-to-warm technology lets you tailor the ambience from bright clarity to candlelit calm. Specially crafted for you in a brass or high-lustre chrome finish, the PH 1/1 Portable Lamp is a petite companion designed to elevate life with exquisite style and elegance.
Poul Henningsen is an integral figure in lighting design and architecture, whose revolutionary views on the utilisation of light in the home led to a number of ground-breaking designs.
Collaborating with Louis Poulsen in 1924/25, Henningsen produced the first version of the seminal PH multi-shade lamp, a classic piece of modern lighting design, featuring separate elements which are shaped and assembled in such a way that the bulb is covered and light is directed downward, creating a soft, diffused effect.
Henningsen was aware of the importance of light in urban life, but sought a way to subdue the harshness of electric light while harnessing its mood-altering properties, believing that the aesthetic of an interior is highly dependent on how light is used.
