A tribute to a visionary era in design, the PH 1/1 Chandelier Centenary Edition honours 100 years of Henningsen’s cutting-edge work, echoing a celebrated 1933 original. Sculptural and poised, its sweeping classical curves are finished in lacquered aged brass, delicately brushed to preserve a rich patina. Each piece is individually numbered and engraved, embodying heritage, fine craftsmanship and enduring influence.
Mouth-blown, layered opal glass shades cast a soft, balanced radiance both above and below, enveloping dining rooms and entrance halls in a calm, atmospheric glow. The PH 1/1 Chandelier transforms spaces into refined sanctuaries, offering warmth, prestige and a quietly confident sense of occasion. Available in strictly limited numbers worldwide, once secured, this Centenary Edition is gone forever.
Also in Louis Poulsen’s PH Centenary Collection: the PH 3/2 Table Lamp and the PH 3½-2½ Floor Lamp.
Poul Henningsen is an integral figure in lighting design and architecture, whose revolutionary views on the utilisation of light in the home led to a number of ground-breaking designs.
Collaborating with Louis Poulsen in 1924/25, Henningsen produced the first version of the seminal PH multi-shade lamp, a classic piece of modern lighting design, featuring separate elements which are shaped and assembled in such a way that the bulb is covered and light is directed downward, creating a soft, diffused effect.
Henningsen was aware of the importance of light in urban life, but sought a way to subdue the harshness of electric light while harnessing its mood-altering properties, believing that the aesthetic of an interior is highly dependent on how light is used.
