HAY’s Barro range is a colourful tableware collection that brings ‘red clay’ to home dining, created by designer Rui Pereira as a tribute to his home country’s traditional craftsmanship in terracotta. Barro celebrates the everyday pieces found in Portuguese street markets and eateries, cherished and passed down through generations.
Available in a range of colourways to complement the rest of the Barro crockery, the butter dish comprises a base plate and matching lid, both embodying an organic, softly rounded aesthetic. Mix and match to create your own tablescape with a unique, playful style that brightens up meal times.
Rui Pereira is a nomadic designer and researcher from Portugal. Having lived and worked in Valencia, Milan and Copenhagen, Pereira has developed a clear and incisive design language that results in beautiful yet functional products.
Pereira has collaborated with a variety of brands and designers, including visionary Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola and Japanese designer Ryosuke Fukusada. He currently works for Danish design powerhouse HAY as design and visual direction manager.
