The epitome of Scandinavian design, the PK51™ exudes sophistication with a strong industrial influence. Kjaerholm considered steel to be a natural material, with the same artistry and subtlety as other organic materials. Used in combination with an ash veneer tabletop, the PK51™ embodies Poul's iconic aesthetic, adding a sense of depth and dimension to an otherwise seemingly simple table. The recognizable PK51™ can be used as both a desk or a dining table and is available in a smaller variant. Perfectly complemented by the Fritz Hansen PK11™ Armchair, the pair create an idyllic home office workstation or dining setting.
Poul Kjaerholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in different construction materials; especially steel which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials.
