Rooted in the enduring language of maritime design, the Solas Rectangular Table celebrates materials chosen for their honesty and endurance. British designer Matthew Hilton reinterprets this maritime heritage through a contemporary lens, creating a piece that feels equally at home in a secluded courtyard or beneath open summer skies.
A solid stainless steel frame and finely finished teak slats bring together lasting strength and natural warmth, crafted to weather the seasons with grace. Clean-lined and effortlessly versatile, the Solas dining table creates a welcoming setting for everything from leisurely breakfasts to long evenings shared outdoors, becoming a piece you’ll return to year after year.
Born in 1957, British furniture designer Matthew Hilton studied at Portsmouth College of Art and then at Kingston Polytechnic. After graduating he worked for Capa as an industrial designer and model maker. He then went on to set up his own design studio/workshop in 1984. In 1986, SCP was the first designer furniture manufacturer to produce Hilton’s work.
Matthew Hilton has since gone on to work with many international furniture manufacturers including CASE, Montis, Authentics and De La Espada.
