The &Tradition HM8 Tripod Floor Lamp, designed by Hvidt & Molgaard embodies a sculptural, sturdy design.

First designed in 1953, the lamp never found its way to production, &Tradition have now relaunched the elegant design as part of their stunning Hvidt & Molgaard collection. Named ‘Tripod’ after the striking three-point composition of its base, a heavy-weighted spherical component maintains constant balance, adding both an artistic twist and purposeful element to the design. With a slender profile and a beautifully curvaceous shade allowing for optimum light distribution, the practical, stylish floor lamp is the perfect addition to the contemporary home, ideal for placing near a sofa or lounge chair.

Materials & finishes
The shade is spun from a single piece of aluminium. The base is made from bent steel tubes and welded together. The lamp is lacquered in a satin matt finish. Fabric cord with on/off switch.

Hvidt & Molgaard

Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) were pioneers of Danish mid-century design and the founders of Copenhagen-based firm Hvidt & Molgaard.

Renowned for the simplicity of their works, the duo established a simple and precise aesthetic designing countless pieces of furniture over the years, many of which became icons of the era. Today, their work can be found exhibited at MoMA, Melbourne’s National Gallery, and Copenhagen’s Design Museum.
