The Marfa Lamp was created by Claesson Koivisto Rune in collaboration with Wästberg for their architectural project, the inde/jacobs gallery building in Marfa Texas. The small town of Marfa is best known as the home of artist Donald Judd and was where he bought several buildings and turned them into permanent installations of minimalist art. A lamp for an art gallery should do its job and not steal any attention. When seen from the side, the lamp is merely a thin line. Minimal expression. Maximum efficiency in material, production, light and energy consumption.
