Lars Beller Fjetland has based the Solid's design on ancient Japanese religious structures called Torii. The reference is evident in the choice of materials that harmonise with the original wood and stone used for the Torii gates but infused with a Scandinavian twist.
The result is a timeless and sturdy coffee table with a simple design stripped of unnecessary details. The Solid Table consists of a base of Nordic ash and a marble tabletop and is simple and intuitive to assemble without the use of screws or glue. The parts lock together under the weight of the tabletop, forming a sturdy coffee table with a harmonious and luxurious look.
Lars Beller Fjetland grew up on the west coast of Norway, where he has nurtured a lifelong fascination for the marriage of function with the finest of nature's materials in furniture, interiors and lighting. Graduating from Bergen National Academy of the Arts, Lars is constantly looking to broadening his horizon as a dedicated explorer of form through various new projects. His latest endeavours range from collaborations with graphic designers to more sculptural, artistic experiments with form and material.
