As its name suggests, the defining theme of the Tones collection from nanimarquina and Claudia Valsells is colour. Abstract, irregular patches are combined together to create a striking chromatic composition. The result is an inviting rug that invites interaction, the deep hand-tufted pile providing sumptuous comfort.
Designer Claudia Valsells has stepped outside of her usual medium of paint to explore the nuance and texture of natural fibres. Working with 100% natural wool for the first time, the resulting rugs are aesthetically striking and exceptionally versatile, suited to a wide range of different settings.
Born in 1969, Claudia Valsells began her career as a mural painter.
Studying her craft at the Brussels-based Institute Superior de Peinture Van Der Helen et Logelain, Valsells’ style began to evolve. Revelling in the use of colour as a vehicle of expression and visual experience, she worked as an artist and colourist before exploring the fields of both architecture and interior design.
