In creating the Chillida - Gravitacion 1994, nanimarquina have faithfully translated one of Eduardo Chillida’s seminal works into a textile rug, using a luxurious blend of New Zealand wool and silk to create an interplay of different textures. The woven pattern is subtle, yet still draws the eye inexorably towards the imperfect geometries of the design. The Chillida collection represents a chronological homage to the great artist’s work.
Spanish Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida was born on 10 January 1924 in San Sebastián. His monumental abstract works can be found in over 20 museums across the world, and exhibitions have been held in several cities including Berlin, London and New York.
