Story

The Moooi Smoke Chair gets its unique frame by being set alight and left to smoulder - making each chair totally unique. After the Smoke Chair is burnt, it is then finished with epoxy - a long lasting material - to 'seal' the textured burnt wood. The Smoke Chair is a majestic design that would be the focal point of any room.

Maarten Michael Baas

Maarten Michael Baas was born in Armsberg, Germany in 1978. He was educated at the Hendrik Pierson College, Zetten and Design Academy, Eindhoven.

His pieces are all unique and handmade, though produced in series, mostly signed and numbered by Maarten Baas. Maarten is searching for the boundaries of design, without leaning on the regular "do's and dont's".
