The Poltrona Tria in rattan emerged from a collaboration with Vittorio Bonacina, one of Italy’s leading furniture producers in the 1970s. Renowned for its elegant contours that showcase the material’s natural aesthetic appeal and structural versatility, the lounge chair was one of De Carli’s final furniture designs - a fine example of his creative vision and passion for traditional craftsmanship.
Named after its gracefully curved armrests made from three artfully assembled rattan canes, the Poltrona Tria has been reimagined by GUBI half a century after its first release. Boasting two plush foam-filled cushions set upon a refined ergonomic frame, this iconic chair brings a luxurious lounging experience to your interior space. It’s an exquisite finishing touch to any living room setup and light enough to move to a cosy hideaway for moments of calm.
Not only one of the greatest masters of Italian design but also an architect and one of Italy’s leading and most respected professors, Carlo De Carli made a profound impact on design in the 20th century.
His philosophy focused on the integration of space, material and the human body and with this ideology, he effectively engaged dialogue between design, universities and craftsmanship. He has worked with established brands such as Cassina and Gubi, winning prestigious awards such as the Compas D'Oro prize for design in 1954.
