Composed of the Austere Trestles and Linear Tabletop, the Trestle Table draws on Form & Refine’s commitment to simple materials and functional design. The trestles were designed by Kristian Vedel during his tenure as an industrial design professor at the University of Nairobi, where he found the students lacked functional furniture; with the simple folding trestles helping to create a suitable teaching space. The Trestle Table is an incredibly versatile piece, able to be quickly dismantled and stored away, perfect for adapting to changing spaces and purposes over time in the modern home.
Kristian Vedel was one of the great pioneers of Danish industrial design, an integral part of the Scandinavian design movement.
Heavily influenced by Kaare Klint and the Bauhaus School, Vedel’s style was classic modern, characterised by his creative use of materials, with an emphasis on functionality and ergonomics. Vedel was also a pioneer in working with early forms of plastic. In the 18 years since he passed away, his work has only grown more prolific.
