Designed by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, the 553 Bowy Sofa combines luxurious comfort with beautiful, inviting curves. Its versatile modular design and striking shape allow the user to get creative, combining individual sofa modules in a wide range of compositions. Featuring high-quality tailoring, its soft shape consists of a rounded armrest that directly meets the backrest, emerging beyond the seat units. Circular, semi-circular and rectangular shapes alternate dynamically to create a play of volumes and a defining, graphic silhouette.

Patricia Urquiola attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Madrid Polytechnic and Politecnico di Milano. After graduating in 1980, she started working for Maddalena De Padova's product development office, eventually being put in charge of it.
