Part of the striking Deck Chair Series, consisting of chairs, tables, benches and accessories, the Carl Hansen & Son BM5568 Outdoor Deck Chair was originally designed in the 1960s, fulfilling Børge Mogensen’s personal need for comfortable yet space-saving outdoor furniture.
Crafted in untreated, FSC®-certified teak with naturally high oil content, its durable design can withstand changing weather conditions and will patinate beautifully over time, acquiring a more silvery hue. Furthermore, its versatile yet practical design can be folded and hung on a wall mount as a decorative feature when not in use.
Borge Mogensen (1914–1972) started his career as a cabinetmaker in 1934.
In 1936 he went on to study at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts under Professor Kaare Klint before entering the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from where he graduated as an architect in 1942. He became head of design at FDB (the Danish co-op) in 1942 before establishing his own design office in 1950.
