Cousin to the BM0488S with its classic cane seat, the BM0489S is a new variation on Borge Mogensen’s original design, featuring a double-woven paper cord seat reminiscent of Carl Hansen & Son’s other classic designs. Produced by hand, each stool uses 335 metres of cord, meticulously woven to create the eye-catching and tactile pattern.
The body of the stool is constructed from expertly jointed oiled oak, which is hard-wearing, durable and attractive, while the rich texture of the wood enhances the stool’s minimalist aesthetic. Whether used as a coffee table or sideboard in the living room, or as a sideboard or nightstand in your bedroom, the BM0489S table bench is an highly versatile piece of design.
Borge Mogensen (1914–1972) started his career as a cabinetmaker in 1934.
In 1936 he went on to study at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts under Professor Kaare Klint before entering the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from where he graduated as an architect in 1942. He became head of design at FDB (the Danish co-op) in 1942 before establishing his own design office in 1950.
