First produced in 1937, the Artek 900 Tea Trolley is a highly impressive piece. Suitable for use as a permanent small sideboard or as an occasional table, the 900 is an iconic and highly functional object. Finished with a ceramic tile surface in a choice of white or black finish, the 900 Tea Trolley is characterful and rich with heritage. Combining British tea culture, with the Japanese woodwork and architecture that captured Aalto's imagination, the Tea Trolley was first launched at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, which saw a traditionally functionalist piece of furniture embellished with pared down multicultural references, suitable for use when enjoying as diverse a range of occasions as breakfast or a cocktail party.
As one of the great architects and furniture designers of the 20th century, Finnish designer Alvar Aalto breathed life and warmth into modernism, placing emphasis on "organic" geometry; supple, natural materials; and a respect for human feeling.
Alvar Aalto's collection of mid-century furniture and lighting is produced exclusively by Scandinavian brand Artek including the iconic Artek 60 Stool.
