We’ve had quite the 2018 here at Nest. In our 15th year there has been plenty to be grateful for… welcoming new brands and team members, having exciting travel opportunities and celebrating some big milestones, here we have rounded up some of our favourite moments from the last 12 months.

We’ve welcomed exciting new brands

We are always keeping our eyes peeled for new and exciting brands and we were delighted to welcome, cc-tapis, Cuero, Paper Collective, Nikari and Eero Aarnio Originals to our collection in 2018.

We travelled Europe in search of the best designs

From Copenhagen to Switzerland, London to Milan – our team have been lucky enough to immerse themselves in some of Europe’s most creative destinations this year.

In April, four of our team took the annual pilgrimage to iSaloni in Milan, the largest and arguably the most influential furniture fair in the world. We always come away filled with inspiration and plenty of ideas for new products... take a look at the roundup of our best bits here.

We’ve celebrated enduring classics

This year we have celebrated and shared our love for some of the world’s most iconic designs. From Carl Hansen’s Wishbone Chair to Knoll’s Womb Chair, we’ve taken a closer look at the history, design and production of some our favourite icons.

Our top seller for the third year running, this year was the 60th anniversary of the iconic PH5 Pendant Lamp from Louis Poulsen. Named after its designer Poul Henningsen, the PH5 is an enduring classic that looks as good now as it did when it was originally released in 1958. Take a closer look at the production process here.

We’ve collaborated with our favourite lifestyle bloggers

We chatted to up-and-coming lifestyle blogger Tsun Yuen about his passion for all things minimal. The one to watch for his pared-back style and refined aesthetic we talked to the London based blogger about what influences his style and where he looks for inspiration. Read the article here.

We’ve been championing design in the North

In 2018, our neighbour the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield have held an exhibition in collaboration with artist and designer Giles Round celebrating the place of design within the domestic setting.

Recreating a 1959 exhibition at the then Wakefield Art Gallery where eight architects were invited to refurnish art galleries as if they were inhabited domestic spaces, the 2018 exhibition featured furniture, ceramics and textiles from the 1959 show which are still in production. You can see our Knoll Bertoia Anniversary Highback Armchair as part of The Director Exhibition until the 13th January 2019. Check out our Instagram highlights story.

We went searching for all things joyful

‘Though the feeling of joy is mysterious and elusive, we can access it through tangible, physical attributes.’ Ingrid Fetell Lee

What is joy and where does it hide? In one of our favourite journal articles from this year, we took inspiration from Ingrid Fetell-Lee in searching for tangible things that can bring about the feeling of joy. We searched for ways to bring joy into our homes and picked out some of our own favourite moments where we find joy in our lives.
