The best of 2019 at Nest
It’s been another big year here at Nest. From launching a brand-new website to collaborating with our favourite brands, discovering great design across Europe and welcoming lots of newcomers to the Nest collection – we’ve got a lot to be thankful for. Join us to reminisce on some of our standout moments from 2019.
Drumroll please… we launched a new look Nest
If you’re thinking things have looked a little different around here in the second half of 2019, then you’re right. To make shopping with us more enjoyable than ever before, we made some exciting updates this year. With a new logo, new graphic style and brand-new website, this was a huge project for the Nest team and we’re very proud of it – we hope you like it as much as we do.
We welcomed over 15 new brands
From Warm Nordic to Astep – the Nest family grew in 2019 with a flurry of new brands added to our collection. Committed to bringing you the best in classic and contemporary design, our growing collection will provide you with even more design choice. Watch this space for even more exciting newness in 2020.
2019 was a year to celebrate design milestones
This year has marked some big design anniversaries. 100 years since the Bauhaus school was founded, 70 years since Finn Juhl’s iconic Chieftain Chair was released, String’s 70th birthday and with Living Divani celebrating 50 years – it was great to see so much design being celebrated in 2019.
We sat down for many a chat
At Nest, we love to get a behind the scenes insight into designer’s minds and a look at lifestyle bloggers homes. In the Nest journal in 2019, we interviewed Jonas Krüger of Brdr. Krüger about what it was like to design furniture for the world-famous Noma restaurant and spoke to British lighting designer Lee Broom about some of his favourite design moments. We also discussed homes for wellbeing with Hannah Trickett and Scandinavian style with Heather Milner. See the Nest journal for the full interviews.
We were proud to release a number of exclusives
As champions of great design, we were proud to be the exclusive retailer for a number of new release designs in 2019. Our customers were the first to shop the beautifully refined ARV collection, crafted by Brdr. Krüger for Noma; discovered the sumptuously soft Vitra Organic Chair in Sheepskin before anyone else and continue placing exclusive orders for the limited-edition Louis Poulsen Black Collections in the UK.
The Nest awards…
The best of the best in 2019...
Project of the year: The Weston
Designed by Feilden Fowles and nominated for the RIBA Stirling Prize – we were very proud of our involvement with the Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s new visitor centre in 2019. A beautiful building in a beautiful setting – the Weston gets the award for our favourite project of 2019.
Our most popular designs
The classics once again take the top spots – this year you’ve been immersing yourself in great design and browsing classics such as the PH 5 by Louis Poulsen and the CH24 Wishbone Chair by Carl Hansen.
Best hotel of the year: the Audo
We just had to celebrate one of the biggest openings in the design world this year – The Audo. Menu’s new headquarters, showroom and hotel in the centre of Copenhagen, we were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights in these stunning interiors earlier in the year. Most definitely our favourite place to stay in 2019.
Our most popular Instagram post: Finn Juhl
And our most liked social content of the year was… a beautiful shot of the interior of Finn Juhl’s Copenhagen home. We have to say our audience has very good taste. A special mention goes to the Northern Hifive Media Unit for second place.
Best Exhibition of 2019: In Real Life at the Tate Modern
2019 was another chance for us to become immersed in the world’s best design events. A retrospective of Olafur Eliasson’s career to date, this fantastic exhibition was a big talking point in 2019. Fantastic installations combined with the chance to see Louis Poulsen’s OE Quasi Pendant on display in the Tate’s restaurant made this one of our favourite design moments of the year.
