Young and Norgate came together in 2010 with a shared visionf o r quality and craftsmanship. Awarded a Design Guild Mark for theirAnimate Desk earlier this year they are beginning to carve areputation for innovative furniture design and exceptional handmadequality.
The business has steadily grown, and keen to keep all theproduction in-house now employs 7 skilled makers. ‘Generally withfurniture there is such a major disconnect between the maker andend client, and that is something we are trying to change. Obviouslyit is different when it comes to mass production, but with smallerruns we are passionate about keeping the traditional approach tofurniture making alive.’ Any one of their products can be adapted tosuit a client ’s specific requirements.
All their products are made in a converted cider press on the southcoast of Devon, with the majority of their materials locally sourced.‘There is something incredibly satisfying crafting furniture by handusing time honoured techniques.
