David Chipperfield revisits Wastberg's archetypal Chipperfield w102 Table Lamp, offering a fresh interpretation for additional areas of the home. The Wastberg Chipperfield W102 W Wall Light references the table lamp with a delicate bent arm supporting a simplistic circular shade. Available in a choice of solid brass or darkened steel, the wall light boasts sophisticated mechanics from the refined wall bracket to the dimmer switch found upon the cable. With an energy-efficient COB LED, the subtle shade artfully diffuses a comforting and warm light around the room.
Born in 1953 in London, Sir David Chipperfield later studied at the Kingston School of Art and the Architectural Association in London.
After graduating, he established his own architectural practice in the early 1980s and went on to receive a multitude of awards and titles. These included becoming an Honorary Member of the Florence Academy of Art and Design, a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and receiving the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
One of his greatest successes was receiving the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture in 2011. Given in recognition of a lifetime’s work, the Royal Gold Medal is approved personally by Her Majesty the Queen.
