One of the most iconic pieces of furniture of the 1960s, Vitra’s Panton Chair was the very first fully plastic chair made from a single section. Since its launch, the Panton Chair has undergone several production phases but has remained a supreme classic of modernist design.
Not until today was it possible to produce it in line with Panton’s original idea - consistently dyed, tough plastic with a matt surface. Thanks to the ingenious cantilever base, the Panton Chair offers flexible comfort and catches the eyes in any room of the home or the garden.
Verner Panton is one of the iconic designers of the last century. Panton rose to fame designing the ‘Panton Chair’ for Vitra. Panton’s designs continue to be hugely popular and are still a big influence today on designers and architects.
Verner Panton was a student of Architecture at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen. Amongst Panton’s major achievements in the design and architecture world, is the design of the interior for the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg.
