Story

Renowned for his transgressive, rebellious design philosophy, Maarten Michael Baas brings his trademark flair for the unconventional to reinvent classic tableware forms in the Valerie Objects Maarten Baas 16 Piece Cutlery Set. Each piece in the set is inventively irregular, a pleasing departure from the geometries that usually characterise tableware. The knife serrations feature brutalist cuts that add a new dimension to the piece.

Maarten Michael Baas

Maarten Michael Baas was born in Armsberg, Germany in 1978. He was educated at the Hendrik Pierson College, Zetten and Design Academy, Eindhoven.

His pieces are all unique and handmade, though produced in series, mostly signed and numbered by Maarten Baas. Maarten is searching for the boundaries of design, without leaning on the regular "do's and dont's".
