Whilst designing an interior space for his parents, Chung identified a need for an interactive light that offers the ambience of a table or floor light and allows multiple areas of space to be lit at the same time. Taking inspiration from car headlights, hence the name ‘Beam’, the end result is a versatile modern lamp that allows light to direct from both ends of a cylinder shape. With the turn of a playful dial, you can gradually alter the volume of light emitted from each end – offering ultimate customisation for the needs of your space and mood. The process feels poetic in gesture, similar to using the crossfader on a mixing board or passing liquid from one glass to another. Choose between three different volumes of light with its dimmer function, omitting 100%, 60% and 30% light.
In addition, you can change its direction by the turn of its base and place to suit, whether that be on a shelf or desk, by a bedside, or on the floor - giving complete control. Available in 4 shades in a sleek body of anodized aluminium, Beam has a heavy, robust quality finish and is the ideal choice for direct lighting or an ambient glow in any home, office, hotel or educational space.
