The sky and the moon served as a great inspiration for many of Sarfatti’s designs, resulting in the designer creating his own solar system of light in 1959 known as the Le Sfere collection, with the designs all revolving around a single luminous sphere. The 2042/3 Ceiling Light is made up of three alluring, opaline glass spheres, delicately held together by an intricate metal frame. An elegant contrast is formed between the soft opal and intertwining metal, creating a stylish ceiling fixture with a distinctive, graphic expression.
During his thirty years of activity, Gino Sarfatti designed and produced over 400 luminaires and carried out non-stop research into innovation as regards typology, materials, production technologies, light sources, technical lighting effects and design aspects.
In the course of their work, Gino Sarfatti and Arteluce won numerous prizes and awards including the Compasso d'Oro in 1954 and 1955, and the Honorary Diploma of the Milan Triennale.
