In creating the FK10 Plico Chair, visionary Danish designers Kastholm & Fabricius shine a spotlight on things other designers often seek to hide. Beautiful brass fittings and lovingly honed joints stand as a testament to the skill and artisanship of Carl Hansen & Son's carpenters.
The minimalist aesthetic of the piece highlights the designer’s commitment to honesty and functionality, while also remaining exceptionally beautiful. The soft upholstery and adjustable folding backrest combine to give a sense of luxuriousness, while also making the chair versatile and easy to store.
The FK11 Plico Lounge Chair is also available, with a lower backrest which gives it a more compact profile.
Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) both attended the Danish school of Interior Design, where they studied architecture under Finn Juhl and subsequently with Arne Jacobsen.
Creating a handful of designs as a partnership, the duo were driven by a mutual mission to make a form a pure derivative of function. Their work is defined by mixing materials and shapes, forming streamlined, sleek pieces; with many commissioned pieces intended for international airports, penthouse apartments, high-profile lifestyle magazines and even early James Bond films.
