Expertly crafted by the peerless artisans at Carl Hansen & Son, the AH701 Outdoor Lounge Sofa provides a simple yet eye-catching centrepiece to any arrangement of outdoor furniture. Alfred Homann’s tireless pursuit of minimalist principles is epitomised in the sofa’s stripped-back aesthetics and considered design.
Homann’s love of soft shapes and a combination of curved and straight lines are evident throughout the collection, maximising comfort and tactility. Constructed from hard-wearing teak wood, the furniture is naturally resistant to the elements and perfectly suited to a huge variety of different spaces.
Born in 1948, Alfred Homann grew up in southern Zealand, Denmark. In 1976, he graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine arts in Copenhagen. He spent several years working alongside a variety of different Danish and American architects, developing his own style, rooted in simplicity, clarity and logic. His keen eye, precision, and rigorous thoroughness can be seen in his wide range of architectural projects, along with an array of furniture and lighting designs.
In addition to establishing studios in both Copenhagen and the United States, Homann aslo spent time travelling the world, lecturing and giving presentations. Over the course of his career he received multiple international awards and accolades for his body of work, including the Red Dot award, the IF Product Design-Award, and a Brunel Award.
