It is constructed from special, tapered iron bicycle tubes varnished in epoxy powder and the result is strikingly strong and light. The seat and backrest is a perforated sandwich of full grain leather, light, comfortable and slightly flexible. The name Acciaio comes from the Italian word for “steel”, a clear reference to the heritage of Italian steel bicycles. Acciaio is a lounge chair where high technology and craftsmanship are perfectly mixed.
Max Lipsey is an American designer based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. After receiving a BA from New York University, he graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven with a Bachelors degree in 2007. Since 2008 his studio has been a personal platform to develop and produce his own designs, work with companies on mass production, and reach out to initiate group projects.
