Exploring the form of the cylinder, designer David Thulstrup has stripped the design of the Isol Floor Lamp back to the barest essentials. With an architectural, almost sculptural aesthetic, the lamp has a timeless elegance that enhances its surroundings. Originally envisioned as a decorative element, the lamp is also highly functional.
The shade is constructed from patented Snowsound fabric, a unique material with exceptional sound-absorbing qualities and outstanding acoustic performance. This innovative use of materials defines Astep’s technological approach, making them the perfect partner for Thulstrup in this endeavour.
David Thulstrup is an architect and furniture designer with a refined yet diverse approach to interiors and architecture intertwining classic aesthetics with a modern design language. He has completed an extensive portfolio of international projects, ranging from new residential architecture to restaurant, retail, hotel and furniture design.
David won international acclaim and multiple design awards for the interiors of the two Michelin-starred NOMA restaurant in Copenhagen. Completed in 2018, it was lauded for its high level of complexity and unity of layered spaces, refined use of raw materials, craft and comfort, and for its embodiment of stedsans, a Danish expression for a sense of place.
