First introduced in 1938 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, the Little Petra design is defined by elegant curves and stunning use of organic, natural materials. Named ‘Little Petra’ after Boesen’s mother-in-law, the sofa is both petite and compact but still with a spacious, comforting structure; fitting snugly into all kinds of spaces and interiors. Built by hand, the Little Petra VB2 Sofa is a true embodiment of exceptional craftsmanship, with hand-stitched fabric upholstery, available in tactile Karakorum fabric or soft Sheepskin, united with shapely legs crafted in White Oiled Oak. Also available, the matching ATD1 Pouf.
Danish designer and architect, Viggo Boesen, came to prominence in Denmark during the 1930s. His work came to reflect what was known as a 'funkis' style, an abbreviation of the Swedish term, 'funktionalism', which referred to the architectural and design concept of 'Functionalism'. The movement represented stripped back, purposeful design, an ethos that is still at the core of contemporary Nordic design today.
Only a few of Boesen's designs were ever produced, such as Little Petra, but his distinguished, soft and organic approach came to be influential for decades that followed.
