Helping you make the most of your E15 products
Oiled wood is not only one of the most resistant and long lasting materials, it is also incredibly beautiful with a wonderful natural patina that will age exceptionally well over time.
It therefore has natural properties and needs regular care to keep it looking its best. To help you care for your item, we’ve put together a brief care sheet that should be followed for all E15 oiled wood items.
Due to its natural properties, wood can grow dry over time – especially if located in centrally heated homes. It is therefore essential that it is maintained with regular and consistent oiling. This will not only build up the product’s resistance to stains, but will also maintain the wood’s natural beauty and keep it looking like new.
As a general guide, we recommend oiling a solid wood item every 2-3 months. Oiled wood has an open porous surface and needs great care and close attention. Solid wood is, virtually, an indestructible material, so makes a great option for heavily used furniture – like tables and chairs, but will need regular maintenance to retain its strength and natural appearance. The correct oil for oiling will have been included (along with a small sanding block, a cloth and an allen key) with your item when you ordered it. If you need to purchase more, please get in touch with one of our sales team who will be happy to help.
If there is a spill or your item comes into contact with an excessive amount of dirt, remove immediately with dry tissue paper, or a dry cotton cloth – a slightly damp cloth can also be used if necessary.
When oiling your item, use the provided oil-saturated cloth that comes in your E15 care kit. After application please allow sufficient time for the oil to soak in – we recommend up to half a day for this.
Afterwards the item’s surface needs to be wiped again with the same cloth – ideally the same cloth should be used each time it is oiled (this will reduce the amount of oil that is needed too). Please be aware that a freshly oiled product will seep oil – so be careful no cloth or paper items come into contact with it as it can stain.
If your E15 item is used in a high traffic, contract environment, then E15 recommend using a special project oil – this is a linseed oil-based natural treatment and can be obtained as and when required. Please contact us for more details if this applies to you.
We hope you will find these simple care instructions useful. If you need any further information on what has been discussed in this post, please contact one of our friendly team who will be happy to help. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on +44 (0) 114 2433000.
