Combining simple lines with a geometric form, the Type 75™ Maxi series demonstrates a new way of thinking from the iconic British brand.
Our team first set eyes on the Anglepoise® Type 75™ Maxi series at the Euroluce show during Milan Design Week, where it was presented on a stand installation coordinated by Cereal magazine. With their simple and refined style, Cereal magazine created the perfect setting for the Anglepoise® brand.
The New Form
Reimagining the traditional Anglepoise® aesthetic that is recognised worldwide, designer Sir Kenneth Grange opted for cleaner lines and a more curvaceous form with the Type 75™ Maxi series. Although the series stays true to the original Anglepoise® design, this refreshing interpretation was quick to attract a different type of audience – lovers of the modernist look.
Available in Jet Black, Graphite Grey and Alpine White as a Pendant Light and Floor Lamp, the Type 75™ Maxi series doesn’t cry for attention, but instead makes a statement through the finer details. The Jet Black and Graphite Grey versions of the Pendant Light feature brushed aluminium details, whilst the Alpine White version is given the finishing touch with anodised copper.
The Type 75™ Maxi series doesn’t just look the part, but it plays the part too. Utilising Anglepoise’s innovative constant tension spring technology, the lamp is easy to adjust, perfectly balanced and strong-bodied for maximum stability. The designs also feature a flush shade mounted opal diffuser, which provides a soft and ambient light.
The Anglepoise Revolution
In 1932, automotive engineer George Carwardine developed the idea of using special springs with a constant tension to design the first ever Anglepoise® lamp. Starting off with four-springs, the lamp was later redesigned with three-springs to create a product that was more easily adaptable and less complex for the domestic market.
Over 80 years later, Anglepoise® have established themselves as the ‘go-to’ brand for iconic British lighting, even featuring in a Royal Mail stamp collection with the likes of the London Underground Map and the Mini in 2009.
Perfect for You and Your Home
One of the most wonderful things about the Type 75™ Maxi series is that it’s incredibly versatile, making it suitable for a whole host of different environments. Whether your interior is minimal, eclectic or traditional, the visual simplicity of the designs makes them highly adaptable for any home.
The pendants can also be hung individually or in succession, whether you choose to combine the same colour pendants or different shades.
