Hundreds have been invented over the years. Some of them so brilliant that they are hard to beat. They are full of springs and knobs and complicated hinges. Sure, you can design another one of these but my feeling is that perhaps there is the space for a simplified mechanism. An object which is calm. It does move, but does not do everything. For James Irvine this is enough and maybe for some other people too. Dimmable table lamp. Warm white LEDs with diffuser. A jacket construction enables 360° free rotation in all three joints and easy assembling from flat pack. Electronic components integrated.
James Irvine was born in London, December 1958, and graduated in design at Kingston Polytechnic Design School London and The Royal College of Art for post graduate studies.
Today his design studio in Milan is working with various internationally renowned companies including Artemide, B&B Italia, WMF, Alfi, Magis, Whirlpool, Arabia, Mabeg and Canon Japan.
