Born in 1967, having grown up in Iceland and Denmark, Olafur Eliasson went on to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts between 1989 to 1995. In 1995, he moved to Berlin and founded Studio Olafur Eliasson, which today comprises of craftsmen, architects, archivists, researchers, administrators, cooks, programmers, art historians, and specialised technicians.
Eliasson, who works in a wide range of media including installation, painting, sculpture, photography and film, uses his work to make the concerns of art relevant to society at large. He focuses on subjects of perception, movement, embodied experience, and feelings of self, with his art instigating crucial means for turning thinking into doing in the world.
