Quim Larrea and his design team found their inspiration in the pure, simple form of a boomerang. It has been meticulously machined to obtain exactly the right curves, its wax-like finish reminiscent of classic Nordic design. The chair has also gone beyond being a bestseller and has become critically acclaimed, becoming a finalist for the Delta Awards and selected for Designpreis of Germany. Boomerang has proven to be one of Sancal’s most adaptable pieces.
Quim is one of the heavyweights of Spanish design. He holds the National Design Award for his career as an architect, designer and journalist. In the 80s he founded and directed the magazine Ardi with Juli Capella - from which he promoted interesting initiatives that have given wings to the culture of design made in Spain. Currently he chairs the Andalusian Design Center and directs a study focused on both architecture and industrial design. As a result of this activity, in which Katherine Bedwell also collaborates, the bench seating named Agrada was born, for Onn Outside; also the Boomerang collection for Sancal - an edgy and successful project resulting in an extremely versatile chair range.
