The past decade has seen both a 50's and 60's interiors revival, well we think it's about time we brought back the 70's, and we predict that 2011 is the year this infamous decade makes a comeback. The 70's were all about chunky furniture and autumnal shades, such as orange and brown and a hint of zesty yellow thrown in for an up to date twist. Modernity was the look driving each seasonal trend, with fads such as plated tubular steel and rattan making an appearance throughout the decade, as we look back, some of the furniture still looks modern, even up to today's standards. Prints are a key part of the 70's look, for those who dare, the Artifort Groovy Lounge Chair is an 'out-there' way to create this look, though we appreciate some of you may prefer your nests to be a little more subtle. Orange was the key colour of this time, Kartell's Pop Sofa is ultra modern with its transparent frame, for an up to date look just add a hint of yellow, we predict this colour is going to be big in 2011 and with their C1 Armchair, Vitra are already ahead of the game. Accessories are key and though this Newgate Clock was designed in the 50's, it is still in keeping with the 70's look and gives it a more 'vintage' feel. To bring your 70's inspired home right up to date, the circular Tonelli Bungalows Mirror looks modern and sleek, as do the Kundalini Sama Table Lamps in red or orange, an interesting replacement to the lava lamp we know and love. Pot noodles and parma violets weren't the only fads to define the 70's. Tubular plated steel framed chair such as the Hay Hee Dining Chair were big interior must-haves, as was rattan towards the end of the decade, the Knoll Planter Stool is a current interpretation of this. Whether you love of loathe the 70's we predict this is a key look for 2011. However, it is only one of many and we will be back with more Trend Predictions as we head into the New Year.
